Happy Wednesday!
A couple of big things happening:
👔 Father's Day is this Sunday. If Dad's plan is still "I don't know," we've rounded up plenty of ideas, see June 21 below.
⚽ And then there's the World Cup. If you've noticed we rarely talk sports, you're right. But the World Cup is different. There's something fun about cheering for an entire country instead of a franchise.
Try something different this week. Grab a seat at a local pub, order a burger, and watch Team USA take on Australia Friday at noon. We stopped by Pub 32 for the last match and it was so much fun. The enthusiasm is contagious. See June 19 below.
To all the new readers, welcome to The Scene… Our motto is: the more you know, the more you’ll go. That’s what this newsletter is all about, sharing ideas big and small to make it easier (and more fun) to get out and enjoy OC.
See you out there!

Costco Shoppers Say This Gem Is "All You Need" To Remove Wrinkles
Women over 50 are calling Auvoria's Korean-formulated serum their secret to looking years younger without needles or expensive treatments. Experts say it targets the #1 cause of wrinkles many skincare brands ignore: collagen-signal breakdown deep beneath the skin's surface. Users report smoother lines, firmer-looking skin, and a tighter, more lifted appearance in as little as 4 weeks. It's become one of Costco's most talked-about beauty finds — and now you can try the same formula online without a membership.

📸 This Week’s Snapshot
Now here’s a hidden gem…
Last Saturday we ventured out to a little hidden vineyard and winery right in the heart of Newport’s Back Bay.
It’s not a public tasting room, so you’ll have to make an appointment if you want to check it out. It was $65 for each of the 8 people in our group; a little steep, but we thought it was worth it in the end.
The setting is super cute and the wines we tasted were pretty good. They were generous with their pours and encouargaed us to refill our glasses! We spent the first hour in the coolness of their underground cellar, and then we meandered through their lovely gardens.
A big shout out to The Scene readers Bill, Cathy and Nick who joined us for the Tour & Tasting.
[ And yes, that’s a jacket made out of corks in the photo! Ask to try it on if you see it in the cellar ].
About Us:
Lorna’s an OC native who has lived in Spain, France and New Zealand but always returns home for the tacos, the trails, and the beautiful tree-lined streets of Mission Viejo.
Jason’s a Brit who swapped pub life for paddleboards and now splits his time between aquascaping and crafting perfect cocktails. We started The Scene because there’s so much to see, do, and savor.
Thanks for letting us be a small part of your weekend.
🧐 Trivia Answer:
✅ C — Carbon Canyon Regional Park
Orange County's only redwood grove is tucked inside Carbon Canyon Regional Park in Brea, where more than 200 coastal redwoods create a surprising slice of Northern California right here in SoCal. The grove was planted in 1975 when the park opened, using leftover redwood seedlings donated by a local bank after a promotion that gave trees to customers who opened new accounts.
More than 50 years later, many of those trees have grown to nearly 100 feet tall thanks to a dedicated irrigation system that helps them survive Orange County's dry climate. Today, it's not only the county's only redwood grove, but one of the largest stands of coastal redwoods in Southern California.
Bonus fact: Coastal redwoods are the tallest trees on Earth. In their native Northern California habitat, they can exceed 350 feet tall and live for more than 2,000 years. The Carbon Canyon redwoods are still youngsters by comparison. 🌲
